If you are feeling stuck in old patterns of communication and relationships that leave you discouraged, anxious or depressed, Carol offers a combination of mindfulness, body-centered and cognitive behavioral work tailored to fit your circumstances. Carol has experience and a passion for working with the following issues:
anxiety and depression
desire for personal growth that conflicts with current relationships
grief related to emotional and/or physical loss
effective single parenting
guilt and shame related to your belief system
issues related to domestic violence
During difficult times, great strength comes from knowing we are not alone in our thoughts and feelings.
"Play is the language of children and through this creative and emotionally expressive language, children are
better able to approach the issues that most impact their lives. Play therapy is a well researched therapeutic modality that uses the language of play along with the language of words." (Association for Play Therapy)
Carol utilizes her education, training and experience along with the tools utilized in therapeutic play
to help children learn better ways of coping with strong emotions and strained relationships. Depending on the developmental level and needs of each child, Carol incorporates other modalities into her work including
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Theraplay techniques, Sandtray therapy or Solution Focused Therapy to address issues related to:
anxiety and depression
loss and grief
divorce and step families
adjustment to change
creating secure bonds
social media and electronics
As a former teacher and school therapist, Carol is familiar with the school system and often collaborates with classroom teachers to find solutions to symptoms experienced in the school or childcare setting.
Carol has also received her certification as a Registered Play Therapist from the Association for Play Therapy. To learn more about the specifics of play therapy, feel free to check out the association's website at: www.A4PT.org
At Connections, we welcome traditional and non-traditional families. Parents and caregivers are encouraged to celebrate and share what is working while remaining open to learning new strategies that bring results to the challenges of parenting in the 21st century. Carol is trained and brings insight into the following areas of concern for parents and caregivers:
technology and social media influences and subsequent behaviors
exploration of family dynamics
blended family issues
bonding with your child
conflict related to disciplining children and stepchildren
While parenting is addressed as part of a child's therapy, Carol is also available to meet with parents alone to address general parenting concerns and/or conflicts.
"We don't have to do it all alone. We were never meant to."
